SELF-EMPLOYED IN THE CULTURAL SECTOR

mit Dr. Elke Flake
Moderation: Nara Virgens

A journey through the jungle of legal, accounting, tax and financing issues. The seminar is aimed at all those who are or want to become self-employed producers. We will embark on a joint journey to the essential knowledge stations that must not be bypassed when dealing with legal issues, tax regulations and financing problems. The itinerary with the exact contents and focal points will be agreed upon together with the participants at the beginning of the seminar. Depending on the composition and wishes, individual questions and specific problems can be dealt with more intensively.

The topics covered are:

 •   legal forms of independent cultural work: individuals, GbR, corporate bodies such as associations or GmbHs
•   advantages and disadvantages of the individual legal forms
•   taxes and duties incl. sales tax and artists' social security fund
•   accounting, what do I need to know
•   non-profit status and eligibility for funding
•   self-employment, pseudo-self-employment, dependent employment
•   fees, expense allowances and other forms of payment

The goal is to achieve a basic understanding of these issues, so that further research can be done on the web. The aim is to provide as much security as possible so that people do not have to fear breaking into the legal ice every time a panic report is circulating on the Internet.

All event information is also available here as a pdf (in German).
