Apart from your own everyday dynamics, the residency offers a concentrated space to freely organize your time and to reflect your own practice with an open mind. As a resident, you bring your individual interest and questions with you, but can also come together for exchange, and discuss ideas with other colleagues on site.
The residency allows for a deepening of topic-specific practices and also offers the opportunity to develop new ideas for your own as well as joint working practices.
residency at schochwitz castle
For this residency to Saxony-Anhalt, we are looking for up to ten participants.
schochwitz castle is located in the northernmost wine-growing region of Europe, 2 hours from Berlin and a quarter of an hour from Halle (Saale). With a large castle park and several common rooms, the place offers spaces for quiet work and retreat as well as spaces to think and linger together.
The residency is accompanied by facilitators from produktionsbande. In this way, we hope to create a framework for all residents to meet each other and to have a reliable contact person. Facilitators are: sofie, martin, theresa and lea.
The schedule can for the most part be individually designed by the participants. Fixed points in the daily schedule (common meals, walks, exchange rounds, excursions) are planned by the facilitators in consultation with the participants and according to common needs and wishes.
dates & deadlines
For those who are interested in the format and can imagine participating, we offer info-zooms on two possible dates: info-zoom #1: 22.03.2023, 12:00 (in German spoken language) or info-zoom #2: 28.03.2023, 18:00 (in English spoken language). Here we introduce our residency format, go through the application process and share the status of the program. We will also answer any questions and welcome feedback. You can apply for the residency at Schochwitz Castle until 09.04.2023, 23:00. We will inform you about the selection of the residency participants in calendar week 16.
After we have communicated the selection of the residency participants, we invite all participants and facilitators to a digital meeting in order to get in touch with each other before the residency and to exchange questions and wishes. The date will take place in May 2023 and will be fixed upon acceptance of participation in the residency.
about the format
The format addresses all those whose work is located at the interfaces between art practice and structures, between organization and administration in the broadest sense. It is aimed at artistic producers, production managers, production dramaturges, performing arts managers, distributors, production offices, etc.
Anyone who works in cultural production and is interested in a supra-regional exchange with colleagues can apply. During the selection process, we pay attention to whether applicants exclusively produce their own projects - but primarily work as artists, curators, etc. - or whether they design production processes as production managers with and for third parties.
Participation in the residency is possible both as an individual and as a group or collective. Since the number of possible participants is limited, the selection process will ensure a balanced ratio of groups and individual participants.
The selection is made by a rotating selection committee of produktionsbande.
During the stay, working space, accommodation (in single rooms) and meals are provided.
Travel expenses can be covered in accordance with the Federal Travel Expenses Act (BRKG).
In addition, participants receive an allowance of 800,00 EUR net for the entire period. Details will follow in further communication.
The residency is an evolving format, with a profile and schedule which we are currently working out and practicing.
In the process, we are trying to be aware of and respond to barriers in order to reduce them as much as possible. Your complete application consists of two parts:

2) After successfully submitting the completed form, please upload your motivation documents via our cloud-upload.
Your motivation documents for uploading to our cloud consist of a motivation letter (max. 1 DINA4 page) and a CV or a video or audio file with a maximum length of three minutes. The motivation documents should provide insights and answers to the following questions:

What are your aspirations for the residency?
