anti-discrimination clause & practice

From the very beginning of produktionsbande's activities, it was important to the network's active members to recognise and practice active anti-discrimination as a central part of organisational development and all activities of the network as well as in production practice in general.

In 2022, the first year of produktionsbande's funding within the framework of Fostering Connections, a working group was formed in which active members focussed on anti-discrimination. In addition to raising awareness regarding various forms of discrimination and how they are intertwined, the question of practice was always important, especially with regard to producing as an interface activity in arts and culture.

The network has also addressed the issue of anti-discrimination clauses at network level. A working group has come together on this issue, which has discussed, researched, exchanged ideas and developed drafts in changing constellations. In spring 2023, we had a consultation with Diversity Arts Culture and which enabled us to gather feedback on initial ideas from the group.

The development process consisted of many working meetings, text proposals, common thinking and formulation as well as feedback and coordination processes within the network.

The result is an anti-discrimination clause with a practice procedure that we can adopt in our practice in the network
It is now an integral part of contracts with all those who have agreed and continue to agree on contracts with the network , especially during the time produktionsbande is still funded.

Incidents and cases can be communicated to a working group via a separate contact form on the website.

The documents are also shared in German, English and Plain Language in the resources section of produktionsbande so that they can also be used or further developed by other groups and networks in the field.

We welcome feedback and exchange and would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the process.
