about the workshop
EU citizens are free to move within the EU – of course. But what do I do if I want to invite artists and cultural workers from a third country to Germany for a guest performance or festival? Who needs a Schengen visa? How do artists and cultural workers get one, and how can I support them in the application process? How long are they allowed to stay in Germany? And are they even allowed to work with a Schengen visa? In our first workshop on visa issues, we will examine all the legal bases for short stays and focus on the implementation practices of the authorities involved. We will look at a few worst-practice examples and also discuss the (cultural) political dimensions of these issues.
For visa questions on longer stays in Germany we offer another, separate workshop.
