about the orientation session
Do you work as a freelance producer in the performing arts? Are you familiar with the Künstlersozialkasse (KSK; in English: artist social fund)? Have you ever thought about joining the KSK, but something came up?
In this first orientation session, we will share our work and experiences with you on the question of how the KSK can become more accessible for producers/production managers. The offer is intended to give you an insight into the discussion and help you decide whether an application for admission to the KSK is an option for you. We will clarify together what the advantages and disadvantages of membership might be and where caution might be required.
We will also introduce you to our argumentation paper which is aimed at the KSK and promotes access for creative producers. The orientation session provides a framework in which you can ask and answer the right questions to decide for or against applying for KSK membership.
This session is the first part of our event series ksk for producers as well! In Part II we will go through the KSK application together, in Part III we offer space for exchange during the process.
about the event series
As part of our ksk-zugang for producers working group and in three public working meetings, we as active members of produktionsbande have been negotiating the much-discussed topic of KSK access for our profession since 2022 and have developed an argumentation paper that argues in favor of access to the KSK for our profession. Parallel to this work process, we also held talks with supporters from the legal and cultural policy sectors in order to discuss the complex issue at these levels as well. This process resulted in an argumentation paper that shows perspectives on the conditions under which services of freelance producers in the performing arts are considered artistic and can therefore have a favorable effect on access to the KSK.
With the arguments from the developed paper, we have developed the three-part event series ksk for producers as well! We see the series of events as an orientation and support sessions for freelance producers in the performing arts who are personally concerned with the question of whether it makes sense for them to apply for membership of the KSK.
